D3DGear is a screenshot-making utility for Windows computers. The program mainly serves three purposes. The first is the obvious one: to take screenshots of your games (or anything for that matter). You can configure a hotkey and whenever you hit it, the application will take a snap of your screen. You can have D3DGear place the framerate onto the screenshot or even add a timestamp. Also, you can configure it to continually take screenshots until you release the hotkey. D3DGear can take screenshots in a variety of formats, including BMP, JPG, etc.
The second feature is a frame per second meter. It displays a number corresponding to the current FPS state of your games. You can configure the meter to be displayed in different locations and you can also change the size and color of the text.
The third feature consists of a movie recorder. Instead of taking several screenshots of your game, you can use this feature to record a continuous video clip of your games. Just like with screenshots, you can add a timestamp and the FPS meter. There is support for sound, but if you decide to record the sound of the game, you can't use your microphone, which limits the screencasting capabilities of this software.
